In a series of full-day workshops, all employees learned how to build relationships with clients and subcontractors, share information more effectively, and resolve conflict on the job.

• Riverside Medical Center

Doctors experimented with new ways to communicate with patients to lower the risk of malpractice litigation. In another series of programs, the entire staff practiced dealing with patient diversity as part of UCH’s “Creating the Tapestry” course.

Schools and Associations

• American Library Association
The whole staff and some top management people learned and practiced techniques for dealing courteously and efficiently with telephone requests.

• Burlington Central High School
Faculty members worked with student-on-student harassment and bullying.

• Illinois Deans’ Association
At their annual conference, the deans practiced intervention in harassment situations in school.

• Libertyville High School and Vernon Hills High School
Incoming freshmen were introduced to their new school by a lively program. In this annual presentation, they saw some of their fears addressed (and calmed) and learned about the school’s expectations and opportunities.

• New Trier High School
Their entire faculty and staff learned how to intervene in student-on-student bullying and sexual harassment. In a later program, student advisers practiced dealing with difficult parents.

• Will County (Illinois) Forest Preserve District
Park District program leaders learned theatre skills to enliven their storytelling events. They produced actual public programs during this active workshop that covered narrative skills, staging, voice, acting, and special effects.

• Wilmette School District 39
Elementary and Junior High School teachers earned continuing education credit studying bullying, helped design interactive scenes, and tried out various modes of intervention and prevention.
